Robina is a planned town. In 1980, developers Robin Loh and Arthur Earle bought 20 km² of mostly grazing land west of Broadbeach. The name, a mix of "Robin" and "a" for Arthur, became official in 1985. Today Robina holds Robina Town Centre, Robina Stadium, Bond University and The Glades golf course.
Big family houses and plenty of townhouses make bathroom renovations a natural fit here, from an ensuite refresh to a full main bathroom. The same homes suit a new kitchen or laundry.

What are homes like in Robina?
The 2021 Census counted 25,659 people in Robina. Separate houses made up 54.6% of occupied homes, townhouses and semis 31.6%, and flats or apartments 13.7%. Homes are large: 47.0% had three bedrooms and 36.1% had four or more.
Ownership splits three ways, with 31.7% owned outright, 32.6% owned with a mortgage and 33.0% rented. The median rent was $540 a week. Robina grew in stages. A separate planned suburb, Kerrydale, was approved in 1989 and folded into Robina in 1995. Robina State School opened in 1990 and the high school in 1996.

What goes into a bathroom renovation in Robina?
The part you never see matters most. The QBCC says bathroom claims under the Queensland Home Warranty Scheme averaged almost $25,000 in repair costs in 2024 to 2025. Its inspections often find membranes put on wrong, taps left unsealed and waterstops in the wrong place.
So a good Robina bathroom job runs in order. Strip out, check the frame and floor, and fix any rot. Then a licensed waterproofer lays the membrane before tiles go down. If your home was built before 1990, test old sheeting for asbestos first, as the QBCC warns many homes from before then may contain it. Our bathroom cost guide covers pricing.

Do I need approval for a bathroom reno in Robina?
For a townhouse or unit, often yes, and that covers about 45% of Robina homes. Check your by-laws, then get the body corporate's written okay if the work touches shared pipes, drains or other common property. In a building format plan, the membrane inside your lot and the shower tray you use are usually yours to maintain.
Shared pipes and drainage belong to the body corporate, so plan the layout before you move a shower or toilet. If you are planning ahead for later years, a step-free shower is worth a look. See our accessible bathroom guide and the Queensland format plan guide.

Do I need a waterproofing certificate for a Robina bathroom?
Yes, if the waterproofing work is over $3,300. The QBCC says a Form 43 or Form 12 certificate is needed for wet areas like bathrooms, toilets and laundries. It covers floors and walls next to showers, baths and other water fittings. A licensed contractor must do the work and issue the certificate. Keep it with your house papers.
Who does the work on a Robina bathroom renovation?
Brett Field is a QBCC licensed carpenter. He runs the job himself and handles the carpentry, like wall framing and fitting cabinets. He books licensed trades for the parts that need them: a plumber, an electrician and a waterproofer. That way one person keeps the whole bathroom job on track, from start to finish.
