Laundry with a timber benchtop

Laundries built to fit

Field Carpentry renovates laundries across the Gold Coast, from new cupboards and a benchtop to a full renovation.

Brett is a carpenter, so the cupboards, benchtops and shelving are made to fit your space. He books and runs the other trades, like the plumber, electrician and tiler, and you get a timeline with your proposal, before any work starts.

What we do in laundries

How much does a laundry renovation cost on the Gold Coast?

Most laundry renovations in Australia cost between $5,000 and $30,000, according to Three Birds Renovations. Size sets a lot of it. These ranges come from a published 2025 cost guide, not from Brett's own price list.

Laundry sizeTypical cost
Small (5-10 m2)$3,000 to $7,000
Medium (10-15 m2)$7,000 to $12,000
Large (15 m2 and up)$12,000 to $20,000+

Nero Tapware laundry renovation cost guide (2025) and Three Birds Renovations (2025), checked on 4 October 2026. A guide, not a quote. Brett's quote is the real number.

What moves the price most: moving the plumbing, made-to-measure or flat-pack cupboards, the benchtop, and how much wall gets tiled. Our laundry renovation cost guide breaks it down item by item.

Cupboards, benchtops and storage made to fit

Most of a laundry is carpentry: the cupboards, the benchtop, the shelves and the hanging space. Brett builds them to fit the room, around the washer, dryer and tub, so no space is wasted.

He also builds built-in wardrobes and cupboards through the rest of the house.

Does a laundry need waterproofing in Queensland?

A laundry floor must be water resistant, and so must the wall behind the tub, under the National Construction Code 2022 that Queensland uses. A laundry with a shower in it must meet the full shower rules. Our guide to waterproofing in Queensland covers the rules and the cost.

Does a laundry renovation need a licence or approval?

Plumbing and drainage work in Queensland needs a QBCC licensed plumber at any value, and other building work over $3,300 needs a QBCC licence too. Field Carpentry holds QBCC licence 15316127. Our guide to council approval on the Gold Coast covers when renovation work needs approval.

Brett from Field Carpentry completed a renovation for us at our home in Ashmore on the Gold Coast. The project included two bathrooms, some large doors and windows, some brick work repairs, flooring modifications and some other bits. He was fantastic to work with and the quality of work was top notch. He was always very polite and considerate of us while living in the house through the Renos, always working with us to schedule things when it would suit our family movements. Brett is a very good communicator and a great builder. We will definitely use Field Carpentry again and would recommend them to other Gold Coasters.

Brett did a bang-up job repairing and restoring our wooden deck including building a set of fully-enclosed 2 metre wide steps from scratch. He listened to what we wanted to achieve and gave us a range of options to suit different budgets. A pleasure to deal with from go to whoa, we can't fault his work ethic, craftsmanship, communication or punctuality. Would we use him again? We're already writing our "2024 List for Brett"

Brett has done several renovation jobs for us over the last 15 years - timber and stainless steel back deck and railings, timber stairwell railings, refit and installation of cupboard units in laundry and bedrooms, and timber self-close fence side gate. A skilful tradie whose work I highly recommend - quality work, great follow-through, and just a great guy to have come into our home to do the necessary work.

Brett has carried out a range of medium to large jobs for us, including a new deck, a daybed, and he was a key part of the team that extended our house (a large reno project). His ability to bring a bespoke idea to life is incredible, as is his attention to detail. Just a great guy to work with, would recommend him to anyone.

I have hired Brett's expert carpentry services on a couple of occasions and both jobs were carried out in a professional manner. Brett is a perfectionist and takes pride in his workmanship and what he delivers. He carried out a semi kitchen reno job most recently which by no means was straightforward however he tackled it head on and a great result was achieved.

Common questions

Can't see your question? Ask Brett.

How much does a laundry renovation cost on the Gold Coast?
Most laundry renovations in Australia cost between $5,000 and $30,000, according to Three Birds Renovations. A small laundry with simple finishes is often $3,000 to $7,000. Brett's free quote is the real number for your laundry.
Do you do small laundry updates, not just full renovations?
Yes. Brett can fit new cupboards, a benchtop or shelving without renovating the whole room.
Who does the plumbing and electrical work?
Licensed trades. In Queensland, plumbing needs a QBCC licensed plumber whatever the size of the job, and electrical work needs a licensed electrician. Brett books and runs them as part of the job.
Are you licensed?
Yes. Field Carpentry holds QBCC licence 15316127.
